Database Developer

The position’s primary function will be to participate in the creation of ETL to support the core data warehouse and its set of dynamic data marts. As part of the Database Team this position will also have the opportunity to participate in the administration of our operational databases, and the development of data mining features and unstructured data analysis.



The primary responsibilities of this position are to participate in the design, development, support and administration of both production and development databases. Other responsibilities include: assisting software development teams in creation of complex queries, designing databases to meet software requirements, analyzing database performance and making recommendation for improvements, testing and evaluating new database features and technology, as well as development work to support data reporting, manipulation and extraction. May lead and direct the work of others.



The right candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of the relational model and normal form. The candidate must also have significant experience with relationship databases such as DB2, Oracle and/or MS SQL. DB2 experience is preferred but not required. Candidate must be fluent in SQL and a scripting language such as Perl and/or Unix shell script. Candidate will have good communication skills both verbal and writing; will be able to write technical documents that are cogent and accessible and will be a self-starter and a team player.



The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or technical discipline. A minimum of 4-6 years of IT experience with 3 years as a Database Administrator and/or Database Developer is required.



Job responsibilities may include the following:

· Development of Perl ETL procedures to support the data marts.

· Administration and maintenance of DB2 UDB databases on Linux.

· Development and maintenance of data models using ERwin.

· Database backup and recovery.

· Database monitoring and tuning using Quest Central tools.

· Development of database maintenance routines using Bash and/or Perl.

J2EE Developer

Principal Responsibilities:
1. Develop, maintain and support production applications using Java and J2EE technologies.
2. Perform senior programming assignments for diverse and complex project tasks in Unix and Windows environments.
3. Contribute to the focus and effectiveness of the development team; tracking issues to resolution, monitoring the effectiveness of tasks, and providing status to the team lead.

Unix Administrator (Solaris)
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The primary focus of this position is the operational support of multiple, remote, proprietary trading environments. The second focus involves performance monitoring and analysis of the aforementioned environments and the development of improved monitoring methodologies, tools, and systems reporting processes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities of Position:
1. To provide first level technical support for trading staff
2. To communicate systems related issues to trading staff
3. To understand the architecture of the trading environment
4. To manage the startup of the trading environment
5. To monitor the trading environment and identify and report system failures and inefficiencies
6. To understand the purpose of the applications used by the trading staff

Requirements:

Often there are several phases of projects running concurrently. This requires identifying solutions to problems, specifying projects, recommending schedules and priorities for projects, and programming solutions to these problems. The availability of the systems and applications are critical to the function of the business and the user community and therefore must be monitored on an on-going basis to ensure problem free use and smooth operation through training, guidance, and ongoing support when problems are encountered. Feedback from users is critical to enhancing system administration. This position must promote and use that feedback to improve the service provided.

RPG Programmer
Analyzes problems in terms of detailed requirements. Designs de-
tailed flow charts. Verifies program logic by preparing tests data
for trial runs. Tests and debugs programs. Prepares run sheets
for routine programs. May also do coding from flow charts, assist
in determining the causes of computer or program malfunctions,
and confer with technical personnel in systems analysis and appli-
cation planning.


Responsibilities will include:

A. Develops, test and maintains code using software development methodology and appropriate technologies for the system being used.

B. Works closely with Business Analysts to develop detail systems design and written test plans for on-line and report application programs.

C. Performs analysis on projects and provides a project plan that shows the tasks needing to be completed and a time estimate for each task.

D. Participates in design walkthroughs with appropriate focus groups and related users to verify accuracy of design in meeting business needs.

E. Prepares installation instructions and coordinates installation procedures with the Quality Control Specialist

F. Supports and troubleshoots application code problems with IS and user staff.

G. Provides status reports that give a detailed description of the current projects progress and indicates time devoted to each task of the project.

H. Coordinates, guides and mentors programming efforts performed by in-house programmers or outside consultants to ensure that all programming is completed according to the project plan.

Documentum Architect
Responsibilities in this role:

Provide technical leadership to a development team dedicated to the development, implementation and support of content management systems supporting multiple editorial client groups. Candidate should have a strong software development background and have experience with all aspects of content management; from acquisition through editorial processes to publishing channel delivery.

Provide direction to staff members in design and coding of enhancements to existing implementations.
